PHILADELPHIA- April 12, 2017 – Nearly 150 guests attended the American Heart Association’s Navy Yard Goes Red event last night, hosted by FS Investments at the company’s Philadelphia Navy Yard headquarters for the third year in a row.
The event raised funds for the Heart Association's national Go Red For Women initiative, an effort that advocates for more research and swifter action for women’s heart health through coordinated educational programming, fundraising and events annually. While more commonly associated with men, heart disease is the number one killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year (approximately one woman every minute).

This year’s Navy Yard Goes Red event featured a panel discussion of female executives from across the greater Philadelphia area, moderated by NBC10’s Rosemary Connors. Panelists included: Ashley Patterson, Chief Revenue Officer/ Publisher of Philadelphia Magazine, Nikki Johnson-Huston, Esq. Founder of The Law Office of Nikki-Johnson Huston LLC, Nina Stanley, Chief Creative Officer/Owner of MOD Worldwide and Annette Mitchell, MSN CRNP of the Angioplasty Center at Jefferson Health.
Participants shared key moments in their journeys to success, talking about the ways that grit and perseverance have impacted their long-term goals. The event helped raise awareness about the importance of women’s heart health, while also serving as an impactful networking opportunity for attendees.
The partnership between the Heart Association and FS Investments stems from a shared commitment to health, both financial and physical. Chief Compliance Officer of FS Investments, Lisa Detwiler, has been an ardent supporter of Go Red for Women for 12 years. She worked closely with a talented team of women at FS and AHA to help spearhead Navy Yard Goes Red its first year, creating a forum to generate funds, awareness and a professional development experience for women in Philadelphia.
