[00:00:04] Andrew Korz: Welcome to the FireSide podcast. My name is Andrew Korz, Director of Research here, and today we’re going to discuss a new and really exciting piece of research that we’ve written and recently published, and is getting a lot of good conversation going within our firm and among our client base as well. Happy to have Alan Flanagan, a colleague and coauthor of the piece here to discuss with me. So Alan, thanks for coming and thanks for agreeing to do the conversation.
[00:00:33] Alan Flannigan: Of course. It’s an exciting topic, really at an inflection point in our mind as we’ll lay out. So thrilling to be part of this conversation, Andrew. Thanks.
[00:00:41] Andrew Korz: Yeah, totally. I think we’re going to get into a core question for asset allocators going forward. And I would also like to mention that this is just an introduction to the piece. We’re going to do a bunch of episodes as a series coming up over the next few months.
To lay the landscape, today is March 7. I think that’s important in any podcast to mention. It’s about 10:50 AM on March 7. It seems like every hour of every day, there’s some sort of policy news, geopolitical news, market news that’s changing the way we are thinking about the world and the way we’re thinking about the economic outlook, tariffs, Russia, Ukraine, what’s going to happen with budget. We have a piece recently, released yesterday on tariffs. So certainly we are adding to the noises in that respect as well. And we’ll link that to the show notes for this episode as well. I think what we try to get to in this piece is really something bigger and broader. And underlying or maybe overlaying everything that’s occurring right now in those realms that I talked about is a fundamental shift in the way the world is operating economically, diplomatically, geopolitically that I think everyone feels, but maybe we’re having trouble putting words to it.
