FS Investment Corporation III Names James W. Brown to Board of Directors

PHILADELPHIA, PA – FS Investment Corporation III (FSIC III), a business development company sponsored by leading alternative investment manager Franklin Square Capital Partners, today announced the addition of James W. Brown to its board of directors. As an independent director, he will join the board to help oversee the fund’s investment activities and corporate governance.

Mr. Brown most recently served as Chief of Staff to United States Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-Pa.). Before joining Senator Casey’s staff, he was a founding partner of SCP Private Equity Partners, a managing director of CIP Capital, Chief of Staff to Pennsylvania Governor Robert P. Casey, Pennsylvania Secretary of General Services and a partner in the Dilworth Paxson law firm. He has served as a director of a number of public and privately held companies, and was Chairman of the board of directors of TMG Health, Inc. and AirNet Communications Corporation.

“Jim has well-rounded experience in public service, law, business and private equity and will bring valuable perspectives to our board,” said FSIC III’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Michael C. Forman. “We are looking forward to having him join.”

Mr. Brown was also a trustee of the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System, a trustee/designee of the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System and was Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. He previously served as a trustee of the Gesu School, a founding trustee of the Young Scholars Charter School, Chairman of the board of directors of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education Foundation and a trustee of Immaculata University. In addition, Mr. Brown taught as an adjunct professor in Villanova University’s undergraduate Honors Program and was recently appointed as a member of the board of managers of the Milton Hershey School and the board of directors of the Hershey Trust Company.

Mr. Brown received his undergraduate degree from Villanova University and his law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law.
