PHILADELPHIA, March 20, 2024—FS Investments volunteers welcomed nearly 50 students from area high schools to our headquarters for an entrepreneurship workshop with Philadelphia Financial Scholars (PFS). At the event, cohosted by the FS Foundation and FS in Color, colleagues introduced students to the firm, shared insights on career paths in financial services and helped refine their presentations for an upcoming PFS business pitch competition.
The Philadelphia Financial Scholars business pitch competition represents the culmination of the students’ participation in the nonprofit’s entrepreneurship programming. After competitions across the city, the top six finalists meet in a citywide event, receiving feedback from a panel of business leaders and vying for the opportunity to win a $1,000 investment in their business idea.
“It was my first time attending the PFS Business Pitch Competition event and I was impressed by how thoughtful and prepared the students were with their presentations. There are some really good things being done within PFS. My hope is that PFS continues to be given the platform to showcase the value it brings to schools in the area and our communities.” –Renaldo Johnson, Marketing Coordinator, Events and Planning, FS Investments
