PHILADELPHIA, PA – January 30, 2023 – FS Investments, a leading alternative asset manager, today announced that Michael Newmuis has joined the firm as its first Head of Impact.

Mr. Newmuis most recently served as Chief External Affairs Officer at Visit Philadelphia, an award-winning destination marketing agency focused on promoting the regional economy, supporting businesses and workforce development efforts, and boosting civic pride. Throughout his 15-year career in Philadelphia, he has provided leadership for a number of civic and community organizations, including serving as a Board Member for Avenue of the Arts; as Chair of the Advisory Board for City & State PA, a media outlet covering local and state politics and policy; and as Vice-Chair of the city’s UNCF Mayor’s Masked Ball, an annual event FS Investments sponsors that helps raise scholarship funds for deserving Philadelphia-area students who otherwise would not be able to attend college.
Mr. Newmuis received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania in Cognitive Science with a concentration in Computation & Cognition.
