On Monday, January 20, FS Investments employees participated in City Year Philadelphia’s annual Martin Luther King Day of Service.
City Year was founded in 1988 as a national service program to unite young adults from diverse backgrounds for a demanding year of full-time community service. Teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide support to students, classrooms and schools, helping to ensure that students in systemically under-resourced schools receive a high-quality education that prepares them with the skills and mindsets to thrive and contribute to their community. City Year Philadelphia currently serves 12,000 students in 19 schools across the city.
During the event, at John Welsh Elementary School in North Philadelphia, a group of 25 volunteers, including FS Investments Chairman & CEO Michael Forman, painted a Dr. Seuss-themed mural in the school’s first-grade hallway.
