PHILADELPHIA, August 18, 2023 – This summer, FS Investments welcomed area high school students from Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church for its FS High School Experienceship Program. Now in its second year, the six-week rotational program provides students with an opportunity to learn about and explore careers in the financial services industry.

“I’ve really enjoyed mentoring the high school students. This program provides an opportunity to work in a business environment at a company with a strong culture that values its employees.”

– Kevin Major, Fund Control Associate at FS Investments

Throughout their six weeks at FS Investments, participants completed rotations in the marketing, fund finance, information security and IT-infrastructure teams. They learned about FS funds with the fund finance department, conducted competitor research with the marketing department and learned about infrastructure and security strategies with the technology department.

Participants interacted with colleagues across the firm and were integrated into many aspects of day-to-day life at FS Investments. In addition to hands-on project work and shadowing in four departments, the Experienceship participants also attended various personal and professional development learning sessions. The presentations covered topics such as the economy and markets, wholesaling, self-awareness, personal brand, corporate impact and networking. The program participants also had the opportunity to engage in a roundtable discussion with FS Investments CEO, Michael Forman. The program culminated in a presentation to department managers.

“During the High School Experienceship, I helped to lead one of the rotations on the Marketing team. As part of their rotation, we had the students conduct competitor research for FS Thrive and then present it to the FS Thrive team. They did a great job pulling together information and putting it into an FS-branded presentation. After the presentation they received feedback on how to better present their findings and other communication skills. It was great to see the feedback they were given and skills they had learned from their first presentation carried over into their final presentations. The students were engaged, had thoughtful questions, and everyone was very impressed with how they progressed over the six weeks and what they were able to learn at FS.”

“It has been a pleasure leading this program for the second year and working with each of these talented and ambitious students. Throughout their six weeks at FS, they gained valuable experience in different areas of our business, culminating in their incredibly informative and engaging final presentations. It was wonderful witnessing their growth throughout this summer and I can’t wait to see all they accomplish in the future!”

– Atoosa Scheuer, Talent and Organizational Development Associate and FS High School Experienceship program manager at FS Investments

FS Investments is dedicated to fostering young talent through programs such as the FS High School Experienceship, Drexel University co-op program and summer internships. These programs provide students with the opportunity to learn more about the financial services industry through hands-on experience and skills training.

“The students were so great to have working with our team. They were engaged, asked great questions and brought a lot of energy to the team and the projects they worked on. In addition to their work on our team, I was so impressed by their presentations at the end of their program. They all clearly took the time to think about the presentation topics, understand them and figure out a way to present them that was clear and easy to understand for the audience. Many members of our team were in the audience and remarked how they were taking notes on the students’ strong presentation skills!”

– Caroline Manion, Director, Product Marketing at FS Investments
